Here we'll be introducing LA's Lithuanian artists, actors and other
performers. If you are a Lithuanian artist or performer living and/or
working in Los Angeles, please tell us about yourself and send us samples
or photos of your work. We will be happy to feature you here.
LA's best-known Lithuanian is perhaps TV and moviestar Ruta Lee (Ruta
Kilmonis). Ruta Lee [link
rutalee.com] has starred in films and TV shows with Hollywood's most
famous actors, including Fred Astaire, Audrey Hepburn, Frank Sinatra,
Tyrone Power and Mickey Rooney.

Another famous Lithuanian is Red Hot Chili Peppers lead singer Anthony
Kiedis.

LA Opera tenor Viktoras Ralys is the musical director at St.Casimir's
Lithuanian Parish.

Pianist Rudolfas Budginas recently graduated with a PhD from USC in music.
He currently teaches at Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo and CalPoly.
Rudolfas frequently performs here in Southern California.

Artist Jonas "Kimo" Arbas also hails from LA. He just recently moved to
Lithuania, where he is taking the country's alternative scene by storm
with his musical and artistic peformances, including a joint project with
Titas. He fronts the group
"Fungal
Kingdom" [myspace.com/fungalkingdom] and is also known as
K984 [myspace.com/k984]

Sigitas Sniras [sigisss.com]
has been living and working in LA as an animator, designer, illustrator of
children's books, painter and graphic artist since 2000. His resume
include work for the animation studio Klascy Csupo, and his work is
currently being shown at Lev Moross Gallery at 964 La Brea.
  
Renowned Lithuanian author
Saulius Kondrotas [kondrotas.com] has been living in Los Angeles since
2004. The former director of Radio Free Europe's Lithuanian Service
currently works as a photographer.
  
LA is now home for designer-artist Rasa Jadzevičienė. Jadzevičienė’s
paintings and ceramics have been featured in several exhibits in
Lithuania and in the Lithuanian media. She has created storefront
displays for businesses in Kaunas and private interiors in Lithuania.

Aleksas Mickus is the founder of LA‘s Lithuanian theater troupe „Sezonų
pauzės“. Mickus is a director, actor, and author of plays based on
Hugo’s Les Miserables and Cervantes’ Don Quixote.

Artist and designer Saule Piktys has been living and working in LA since 1989. She was born in Lithuania and studied at at the Vilnius State Art Academy and at Santa Monica College. Her works have been featured in many American and Lithuanian art exhibitions, and she has held her own exhibitions as well.

LA is home to two Lithuanian dance troupes: folk-dance ensemble
Spindulys [spindulys.com]
and the 20th century dance troupe Retro, as well as a respected Lithuanian
Drama Group, the faithful St. Casimir's Church Choir and the famous LA
Lithuanian Men's Quartet.

Nijole Sparkis is a Lithuanian alternative music composer. You can experience some of her work at

Anaheim is home to designer/artist Alyja (Paškevičiutė) Kalinich. She has worked many years as a costume designer for Disney, and her work has been featured in exhibits in Vilnius, Minsk, New York, and LA. Her website is: www.worldwidecostumes.com. Alyja also designed the LA Lithuanian Fair logo.
Al Razutis is a video, holography and multi-media artist. You`ll find some of his work
